Parental involvement in special education

I highly recommend, The Individual with Disabilities Education Act as amended in 2004 for any parents of children with special needs being served under IDEA. The books offers
concise information about your right and role in the special education process. The book is only 102 pages. It is an easy read. It is a book that you will use over and over again.

Did you know you do not have to consent to special education services? Did you know that you can have your child independently re-evaluated if you did not agree with a districts evaluation? Did you know that you have a role in the initial evaluation of your child and the creation of the IEP?
