Children with disabilities

Dear families,

I am writing you today from Ohio State University campus where we (AACLD) have teamed with the Ohio State University, Kirwan Institute of Race and Ethnicity to empower parents of children with disabilities.

If you are a parent of a child with learning differences I strongly encourage you to join the AACLD (National Association for the Advocacy of African American Children with Learning Disabilities). They are offering FREE parent empowerment institutes across the nation. If you become a member, $30, you and your child will have access to a plethora of resources and experts. Visit the website to learn more and get involved. It is the ONLY organization SOLELY focused on the needs of African American students with disabilities http://www.aacld.org/. Even if you do not join, take advantage of the free resources. Visit the Solutions section of the AACLD website. Download the parent handbook. It is free!

I want to share a great presentation that was just shared with us from Dr. Thomas Rudd on Implicit Bias in education and the consequences http://kirwaninstitute.osu.edu/presentation-implicit-bias-education/.
The presentation has information on what you can do about it.
