Dear Parents,
In many states it is time for state testing. I just want you to know that in most states you have the right to "opt out" of state testing. Some kids may have test anxiety or some parents may have discovered that the test do not show a true representation of the child's performance. Most schools have a waiver, short, that you can sign so that your child can be excused from this testing. Most schools do not test for more than a few hours per day a couple days a week. Most schools will want your child in school even if they aren't testing. They may have your child to work on projects or help in a different class (not testing). After-all schools lose money when kids are absent and we don't want them to miss the majority of the day as other learning should be occurring.
Remember state test are ONLY one indicator used in schools to gauge what your child is learning.
Stay informed!
